Adding SSD drive to iMac

I have an iMac 27” 2017. I opted for 1TB SSD. I am assuming this is a blade drive on the back of the logic board. Am I right? If so, this would mean I could potentially add a second SDD, which I would install in the place where regular spinning drives are put in the fusion configuration, right?

If so, is the SATA connector cable already there waiting to be used, or would I have install one (what about the thermal sensor ???) and plug it in the SATA port on the board somewhere???

Update (05/11/2019)

Lets double check what your drive is. Go to About This Mac > System Report... Click on PCI you should see the SSD listed their, if not click on SATA/SATA Express. Tell us what you found.

Good!

Your system does have a 1 TB PCIe/NVMe blade SSD installed. The 2014 models needed the SATA cable so I’ll assume the 2017 will also need it iMac 27" Retina 5K Hard Drive Combo Cable (L15/17) Apple P/N 923-00664. You’ll also want this kit iMac Intel 27" (Late 2012-2019) SSD Upgrade Kit. This guide will walk you through the process iMac Intel 27" Retina 5K Display Hard Drive Replacement
