If you look carefully you’ll see your right corner is also breaking down. I suspect you live in a hot climate and had left your system exposed to high heat.
The liquid crystals within the display sandwich have decomposed. You’ll need to get a new display assembly MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Display Assembly and here’s the guide you’ll need to follow MacBook Air 13" Early 2014 Display Assembly Replacement if you want to get this fixed.
