Why wont my computer and itunes recognize my iPhone?

I got an iPhone 3g 16GB on craigslist for $35 but when i connect it to my computer nothing happens, it had water damage but still works just fine. It'll only charge on my iHome but it is also disabled so i need itunes to recognize it so it can be restored. Why when i connect it to my computer it is not recognized by anything?

How long ago did it get water damaged? Did it get clean after? Did you ever have it working? The reason why it charges on your iHome may be related to the water damage. The iHome has a bigger amperage then your computer. Give us more information

Renato, you could check on on here this is usually what I recommend for water damage. Since you do not know the history of this, I would definitely clean it and to make sure that I take care of the corrosion on the inside. It does sound like your dock connector is that part that is giving you the problem that you are describing, but it is only a guess until you have it checked further. Good Luck and let us know how it is going.
