MacBook Retina What’s up with one end of the trackpad flex cable?

One end of this (and others) flex cable appears to be all plastic and glued on top of its connector. I ordered a new one and it came the same way.

Do these just stick right back on the top?

It makes no sense.

Thanks in advance

BTW I’ve ordered 2 now, that show a photo of a cable I’m used to seeing. But they don’t come like that. They have the plastic stick end too.
