Back glass color gets removed in disassembly.

Block Image

This hasn’t really been a problem before but lately maybe half of the Samsung phones i’ve been getting in for repairs has had a lot of the color torn of when taking off the back glass. Does anyone have any tip on how to decrease the chances of this happening?

What is your method for removing the back glass? Are you using a heat gun? Two things might be happening here. Either you aren’t getting the back glass hot enough or you’re getting it too hot. Either will cause this issue. It usually goes without saying but don’t use metal tools. Also, if you notice that the paint is starting to come up, stop and move to another spot.

I usually use a metaltool to get started because they're so slim. And regarding heat, i'm using a hotplate for ipads that's set to about 75 degree celsius(167 Fahrenheit). And yes, of course i'm moving on to another spot if the color starts coming up.

Thanks for the reply! Besides starting to use suction cup and plastictools, do you recommend using heatgun instead and at what temperature?

Honestly the hotplate in my opinion is the best option. Let the back get really hot. Like hot enough to almost be to hot to touch. Make sure you get under the paint with whatever tool you are using.
