Drill bit stops spinning

I cant get the drill bit to turn/screw when trying to drill into wood. It clicks and nothing happens. The motor is still turning. The drill spins fine on its own no screws. A fairly new, rarely ised Bosch 18V cordless drill

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Tighten the chuck onto to the drill bit. Then adjust the torque.

Thanks. Made sure chuck was tight and adjusted torque. No change

Hi @necochic ,

How hard are you pushing down on the drill bit with the drill, when trying to drill a hole?

Does the bit turn in the wood with only light but steady pressure applied to the drill?

What size hole are you trying to drill?

If it is about 10mm -13mm try using a smaller bit (3mm-5mm) first to drill a pilot hole and then use the bigger bit

Ive tried minimal pressure to hard. The screw is almost through the board but wont reverse or go forward. Still wont turn

Hi @necochic ,

So is the bit stuck in the board then?

If so you may have to extract the bit by using a pair of pliers and "unscrewing" it from the board and then drill again this time using a reaming action (go in a bit and then out again then in a bit further then out again, etc) to clear the hole of wood particles which may be jamming the bit.

How sharp is the drill bit?

Check if there is wood stuck in the flutes of the drill bit.

The flutes are used to help get the wood particles out of the hole but sometimes the wood gets stuck in them so no new wood particles can get out.

Keep the drill straight to stop making the hole bigger than what you want ;-)

No the bit isnt stuck in the wood. The screw made it almost all the way through and now wont turn either forward or reverse. The screw isnt stuck as I can manually use a screwdriver and it continues into the wood.

I tried low 1 through high 20. Shifted speeds 1 and 2. Neither worked.
