I am having the same problem with my 2014 Nissan Murano s model. Huge plume of white smoke on start up the. Goes away. I am getting a P0011 code. I changed the PCV valve today and the smoke still happened. There is sludge in the oil and not sure why because I have done regular oil changes since purchase with synthetic oil. I’m am not really sure where to go from here.

White smoke can be nothing to be concerned about if it's thin, like vapor. ... However, thicker smoke is a big problem, and can be caused the engine burning coolant. This can be the result of a serious issue like a blown head gasket, a damaged cylinder head, or a cracked engine block – all of which are costly repairs.

Hi @lazylane77,

I don't know the answer but this may be of some help.

Here’s the 2014 Nissan Murano Repair Manual (SM14E00Z51U0) that may also be of some help. The Engine Control System deals with the Intake Valve Timing Control. The Engine Mechanical section deals with the timing chain and the camshaft.

Hopefully a start
