Why is my home button clicking but not working?

I inherited an iPhone 4S from family, but the home button does not work. It clicks and feels right, but it is a pain whenever my phone freezes or my jailbreak gets into a boot loop. Is this related to the home button cable on the screen?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Do yourself a favor and take the jailbreak off. I have literally had phones that didn’t recognize chargers work right after resetting the settings.

It was doing it before the jailbreak; it's a home button problem, not power.

It's on a small flex deep inside the screen. If you change it I'm sure it will work. May have even slid out of the connector and might not have to change. Most likely the little point on the black tip of the bulb is worn out. Replace with a new flex if so

I tried pushing where the connector is, and I'm avoiding disassembling the device, as the screen requires a complete disassembly of the phone.
