Touch Screen no longer responding

I swapped the battery and that worked fine.

The screen appears fine but now the touch screen isn’t responding any more.

I’ve reseated the cables (I removed to install the new battery) numerous times to no avail. Finally I gave up & tried the “Factory Reset” still no response.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi,

Have you checked that the cables weren't damaged (broken, fractured etc) when you removed/replaced them?

Do you recall touching the cable ends with your fingers at all when you removed them from the connectors?

Try cleaning the cable ends with a Q-Tip moistened with Isopropyl Alcohol 90% + to clean off any residues left by handling and see if that helps.

If doing this insitu (i.e. disconnect and clean one end then the other) disconnect the battery first to ensure that there will be no problems.

Thanks for responding.

I didn't check them specifically at first pass.

I didn't touch the cable ends and I just cleaned them with 91% isopropyl alcohol without any fix to the symptom. I don't see any tears or cracks in the connectors now.

I didn't reconnect power before reattaching the cables.

Still looking for a solution...

Was the touch screen working before you replaced the battery. If not then replace the digitizer.

This is hard to tell. I forgot to unplug the charger from the tablet when I switched off the power strip it was plugged into. That let the battery TOTALLY die (I got the battery charging display in the screen but it wouldn't take a charge) so I bought and installed the new battery. PRIOR to the battery dying, it was working fine.

Jayeff had some great ideas. I’m going to assume that the digitizer was working before the repair. With that said, did you replace the screen connectors back onto the logic board with the new battery connected first? This can sometimes cause components to get a surge of energy that can damaged them. I would also inspect the connectors to see if any of the pins are bent. This can be easy to do if you tried to seat the connector back on and pressed it down without it being in the right spot.

Thank you for the suggestion to check the pins. How do you do that as everything is so tiny!?

Sometimes you can see something obvious but using a magnifying glass could really help here.
