Does anyone have any ideas? I’ve tried everything software wise, even disabled the discrete GPU with the gfx cardstatus app. The only thing I can think about at this point is the physical display or the cable going to the display.

What does the external monitor look like? Does the problem show up with it?

I agree with that, it seems one of the two but there's no way to tell without removing the glass from the assembly and try a replacement cable.

I'm thinking the driver logic on the LCD panel is damaged as you can see the vertical lines of the failed columns. But it could be bad GPU logic as well.

This model was part of a class action law suit filed against Apple resulting in a repair extension program that ran a short period of time and expired.

It was mainly about the GPU.

Hook your machine up to an external monitor and see if it exhibits the same anomalies. If so, you have a bad GPU.
