i dropped it and damaged hard drive

I dropped my laptop and now the hard drive is no good. I have a new hard drive to fit back in. What software do i need, what steps should i take to have it running again?

Pretty much boot to the windows installer (should automatically do that or give you the option at the black and grey select startup window) and follow the instructions. Or linux if you prefer that. Once the OS is on there you can get up and running again. There are plenty of good data recovery tools out there for recovering your data, my personal favorite is DataRescue III.

since there are no guides for this repair(hard drive)try replace it or use a Linux server (Linux is servers like Ubuntu)
