The handle falls over

I have a 40 year old Asta stove top tea kettle and the handle falls over, so the wooden part of the handle ends up in the fire. The screws that attach the handle have been tightened, but what looked like rubber washers have broken down with age. What would be able to withstand the heat from a gas burner to replace the “washers” ?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Silicone is significantly more resistant to heat than rubber.
