Is it possible to region unlock DVD drives?

I have attached attached a screen shot of which DVD burner i have in the MacBook Pro Unibody

I decided i want a region free DVD drive or at least one unlocked i can buy

If i can't get this or any other SATA DVD drive region liberated,i told a friend who sells blu-ray burners he unlocks from region encoding from PC hardware and has done this for Mac owners like us and works normally

He will sell me one for full price and it includes installation and blu-ray playback software too and no,he is a entrepreneur who will do this for me and i called him so i do not have his e-mail(no website, doesn't have one anymore nor shares his e-mail,he got spammed heavily giving it out)

He had it shut down by his host because of hidden details/lies in the agreement(FatCow)

They said Unlimited "Bandwith" yet his use was normal and shut it down anyway(why do YOU think i would use my own web server)

Nick the only solutions I can find for computer optical drives are not what you want.(Primarily for Windows computers) However there exist numerous solutions for standalone DVD players and I am including a link to one of those for you to look at. Good luck, Ralph.
