Home button not working

I replaced my battery and lighting connecter a few moths back. When I finish the job everything was fine. I cleaned my phone with a wet wipe and my home button started playing up (water damage maybe?). It used to work intermittently, then stopped altogether. Touch ID still worked, the eventually stopped also. I finally replaced the Home button the other day and its still not responsive. Any ideas?

Replacing the Home Button disables the TouchID - there’s nothing you can do about that from a DIY perspective.

However, I would check the condition of the flex cable on the original HB. Look for micro-tears or any other form of physical damage. It really doesn’t take much to cause failures. If that looks good, then check the condition of the flex/connector that runs underneath the LCD Heat Shield. It’s basically an extension fo the HB flex and once again, any damage to the flex or connector will impede the HB functions. This flex can be replaced if damaged.
