Can I put a Early 2014 MBA 13" SSD into a Early 2017 MBA?

Apologies if this is very stupid, I have little experience opening up computers.

My early 2014 MBA has died, I bought a early 2017 MBA today. Is it possible for me to put the old SSD drive (Apple 128 GB) into my new laptop?

I guess I am wondering could it damage it / would it even work? I simply want to take off the data but am not sure if this is possible. I think the pins are the same.

I am struggling to find a suitable adapter at a decent price so if this could work I could be saved.

Thank you for any insight given.

David

I would look on eBay or Amazon for a used OWC Envoy Pro Portable, Bus-Powered USB 3.0 Enclosure For Apple Flash SSDs (June 2013-Current Mac Models) case.

As for using the older SSD you’ll have a problem with the MacOS your older SSD has on it but it will fit and work in your system. You’ll still have an issue migrating your stuff over to your newer (faster and maybe bigger) SSD.

Once you migrate your stuff over from your old SSD using the OWC case you can always sell it and your cleaned SSD on eBay!

Thank you Dan, my main worry was it somehow damaging the hardware as it is an older OS going into a newer machine but I will give it a try.
