Liquid Damage. Can I get the phone to work again?

My Iphone 3g was in my handbag. Hand sanitizer spilled into it and on my phone and the phone will not work at all. Is it possible to fix this? The phone is now dry (on it's own) but will not charge, power on, or work at all.
