looks like there is a vent going between the freezer and the fridge. Maybe it has a small motorised damper?

What is happening? Why are you asking? What is your make and model number?

my fridge isn't working but the freezer section is. I have defrosted the fridge so no problem there. The fan and compressor in the freezer are working well. I am thinking maybe there's an internal and cooling coils in the fridge that has stopped working. I don't feel any coolness or hear any fan in the fridge part.

Hi,

It depends some do and some don't.

Not an answer but if you give the make and model number of your fridge we may be able to find out.

The temperature is controlled by thermostats or thermistors that inform the control board whether to maintain the compressor motor and evaporator fan running to keep cooling the fridge and or the freezer or whether to turn them off as the correct temperature in both compartments has been reached

With a lot of fridges the cold air is circulated throughout the freezer compartment by the evaporator fan located in the freezer compartment. It also sends the cold air via a damper unit (which can open and close under the control of the control board), into the refrigerator section to cool and maintain the temperature there.

In some other refrigerators they use a separate evaporator unit and fan in the refrigerator compartment to help move the cold air in that section to maintain and control the temperature.

While yet other refrigerators have only the one evaporator unit but two fans, one in the freezer compartment and one in the refrigerator compartment to circulate the cold air to maintain the temperature.

Some smaller fridges don’t have a fan at all but rely on the evaporator unit being inside a combined freezer/refrigerator compartment and mounted at the top, where the cold air from the evaporator unit “falls” down (as it is heavier than warmer air) to cool the fridge while the freezer section (very small usually with small door in front but still inside the one compartment) is a lot colder as it is right next to the evaporator unit.

Hopefully you get the drift.

Hi,

It 's normal for the evaporator fan to be turned off when a door is opened as you don't want to blow cold air out the door. The fan is turned on again when the door is closed.

If there is a switch in the door frame that operates the light when the door is opened you could try manually operating it to see if the light goes out and if the fan restarts and then feel for any cold air coming out of the guide duct.

If there is no switch visible (or if it hasn't got a light?) then it may be a magnetic switch with the magnet in the door and the switch somewhere along the face of the door frame, usually at the top of the fridge door.

Looking through the parts list there appears to be only one fan for which a part is available and a guide duct which gives no further explanation as to how it works.

There is also the service manual if you wish to purchase that which may be helpful.

Have you measured the temp in both the freezer and fridge sections with a thermometer? The freezer should be approx. -18C (0F) and at the bottom of the fridge it should be approx. 3C (37-38F).

Check if the door seals are OK by placing a sheet of paper between the door and the fridge door frame and check how hard it is to pull it out with the door closed. Try it at various places around the door frame.

The paper will come out with a little effort but If it pulls out very easily or even just falls out by itself with the door shut the seals will have to be replaced as the cold air is escaping (or warm air is getting in whichever you like)

Do you know if the Fagor BMF-200x has two fans? How would I get docs on how to fix this refrigerator? https://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin/ajmadi...

@wgy ,

I don't know as there isn't much technical info out there for the fridge.

Perhaps you could try here and see if they can help you, although entering the model number in their search box gives no results but still worth the ask.
