How to remove fan and heatsink and replace thermal paste?

I’ve got a HP Pavilion 15 p256nu and after all these years of ownership, it’s started to thermal throttle brutally, and dusting it out from the outside hasn’t been helping much. I’m guessing it’s down to degraded thermal paste.

You’re going to want to remove the motherboard and unscrew the screws surrounding the end of the heatsink that is on top of the CPU. The heatsink should come off now and you can re-apply thermal paste.
