External Hard Drive No Longer Reccognized

I have had an external USB Western Digital Hard Drive of unknown make for a while now and one day I woke up to find that it was no longer being recognized. I felt it and it still felt like it was spinning but there was an obvious clunk in it at a regular interval, as if it was a motor pushing something forward and getting pushed back. Through my research I found it might be related to the arm holding the heads and I would like a second opinion. It gets power and still feels as if it is spinning but other than that I can’t give any more information. My worst fear is having to send it to a data recovery center.

What type of computer do you have it attached to and what system are you running.

That clicking sound is usually the search head going back and forth on a failed drive.

It is a Windows 10 PC and the drive was never moved from the day it was working till the next day when it was found dead if that adds anything.
