wont power on all the way, no chime

suddenly my macbook pro wont power on all the way. it may have dropped from the bed to the floor. but when i push the power button i hear the fan start and the dive start and then the sleep indicator pulse as long as i have my finger on it, then when i release, it shuts down again. its not making it past this stage. blank screen. full battery.

Hi! Try removing the battery, and resetting the PMU (with the power off and connected to AC power, hold the power button in for 10 seconds, until you hear a tone and see the sleep light flicker). You might also want to try reseating the RAM, in case it came loose when the machine fell.

Try booting from the install disk and verifying your drive, and booting into the apple hardware test too. You may find the answer to your problem.

thankyou for your suggestions. i tried to no avail. to better explain the condition here is a youtube video of the exact issue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3opaXh7q... which i believe is a problem with the Nvidia card which is known to go bad. is there a way just to change the card instead of the logic board. everyone keeps telling me to change the logic board which is so expensive. and the card is not

Hi! Using the word "card" is actually a misnomer because it is not really a card, but a graphic chip on the motherboard, and therefore unfortunately it is not replaceable. If it does have the graphic chip flaw, the whole board will have to be replaced.
