iFixit RAM upgrade not compatible?

Just purchased a “MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2010) Memory Maxxer RAM Upgrade Kit”. but the new RAM doesn’t work. I’m running OS 10.12 and my laptop matches all other required specs. I’ve never experienced RAM compatiblity issues with iFixit in the past, but that was before they started selling “iFixit brand” memory, so maybe things have changed.

I’ve tried the following:

  • re-seated new RAM, no effect
  • tried both new chips separately in each slot to make sure chips and/or slots weren’t defective
  • reinstalled old RAM, laptop works fine
  • repeated all of the above 2 times, same results (I had to be certain, since I spent $41 non-refundable bucks for overnight delivery!)

Any other ideas?

Your Best Bet Would To Be To Talk To Ifixit Staff About That. They May Have Messed Up Your Order And Sent You Ram From A Different Model.

What is the OS version you are running? You may need to update the EFI firmware.
