Short battery life after replacement

I have bought iFixit battery replacement for my iPhone 7 Plus and I have replace it without any problems. But still battery life is miserable (~one day of usage). I restored from dfu etc. Tried calibrating twice. Did I miss something?

Several things can cause Battery Drain issues. You will need to isolate some variables in order to get a better understanding of what is wrong. The problem could be a bad replacement battery, excessive current draw from on of the modular components (camera, button, screen) or it could be a problem on the logic board itself. After you have checked the battery condition with coconutBattery, here are some additional things to try:

1.     It could be a bad replacement battery; there are lots of cheap batteries on the market.

* Try replacing with a known-good battery.

2.     You could have excessive current draw from one of the modular components; for example, the backlight, a camera or a sensor. You may notice a hot spot on the phone or screen.

  • Fully charge the battery first.
  • Disconnect the battery, then disconnect one modular component at at a time to see if you can determine which part is bad. I would start with the front camera flex, then the rear camera, then home button.

3.     If that doesn’t make a difference, then you should try to disconnect the screen to see if it’s the screen or the logic board

  • Disconnect the battery, then disconnect the flexes for the screen assembly, buttons and cameras, leaving only the Lightning Dock connected to the logic board (follow these guides). When you are done, re-connect the battery.
  • Go back after an hour or more and test the condition of the battery. You will need to download either coconutBattery (Mac) or 3uTools (Windows) to see the battery condition.
  • It could also be the Lightning port so you could try the same test as above but with the Lightning port disconnected once the battery is charged (connect it back to test the condition of the battery).

4.     You may have a damaged logic board. This will require a micro-soldering repair and is not DIY. Drops, bends, water damage or using poor quality charging bricks and cables, can cause this.

I got battery from here! And I opened it by myself and I haven't saw any visible damages, everything was original except battery which I have replaced

Your replacement battery appears fine. Have you tried any of the other suggestions I have made?

by

There is no hot spot on the phone. The temperature of the phone whole time is okay, like you would expect. Not warm at all

How to check if screen is original? I have apple logo on top right corner of the glass and is there any more spots to check?

by

You haven't answered my question ;>). If you make too many assumptions, you will never figure out the problem. Troubleshooting is all about eliminating variables so that eventually the answer is the only logical conclusion. When you make assumptions without testing first, you can end up on a wild goose chase.

Try this:

Fully charge your battery then turn the screen brightness to max and set the auto-lock to never. Let the phone fully discharge and note how long the battery lasts. It's a crude test but you should get ~5 hours. If you get significantly less, then apply my earlier suggestions to find the source of the problem. If you get around 5 hours, then you have a pretty normal battery.

I think the battery is not functioning properly. Do you have a macOS based machine? If so I can help you troubleshoot and test the battery before we send it back to iFixit and get a replacement.

Download and install coconutBattery onto your MBP. https://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutb...

Then after you are done connect your iPhone to your computer and go to the iOS device page of coconutBattery. Add an image of that screen with the iPhone plugged in to your existing question. Adding images to an existing question

I have attached image into my main post. Waiting for response

Your battery seems okay, so we eliminate the possibility of a malfunctioning battery. I'll let Minho take it from here.

After reading this I am having the same exact problem. I replaced my OEM battery, which was at 87% life, to a new ifixit battery and life has been !&&* since. Battery doesn’t make it through 3/4 of a day. I’m about to throw away my loved 7+ and spend $1000 on a iphone 12 just because of this issue. I like ifixit for tools but your replacement battery sucks!

I have a defect in the front camera and I do not know the reason and I changed the battery, but when the phone reached 80% it shuts down completely and does not restart except when the phone is connected to the charger and when it is disconnected it shuts down again .
