Why is my Kindle not coming on?

Hi, earlier my Kindle wasn’t charging. The orange light would come on and then go off abruptly, and the battery was dead. Yesterday, the orange light stayed on the full 2 hours that I charged my Kindle for. But the horizontal ‘exclamation’ mark on the Kindle screen depicting low battery, just wouldn’t go. And despite my pressing and holding the power button for several seconds, the Kindle just didn’t come on. What’s wrong with it!

It’s possible the battery has failed. Will it turn on if it’s plugged in?

Yeah that's what I said.. the battery has gone but even after charging it isn't coming on.
