Check to verify that the outlet is NOT a GFCI outlet. The fridge should be plugged into a standard outlet.

If the above is not hte problem, then the compressor may have a problem that is causing a short which would trip the breaker. You can also check for a short by measuring the resistance across the two paddles of the plug. It should not read zero.

Why should the power and neutral prongs on the plug not read open, if it has a reading that indicates a short doesn't it
