HDMI Port only works when pushed down

Hello,

I am having an issue with my PS4 in which the HDMI port has become faulty and only works when downwards pressure is applied on the end of the cable (otherwise there is either no signal, pixels covering the screen, or just a black screen being outputted). This issue is isolated to the port, as I have tried different monitors and cables.

I plan to send it in for repair, but I did have this sent back to the seller less than a week ago and whilst it did work for a few days, it no longer does. This leads me to think that the repair was done poorly.

I was wondering if there was anything I could try now before sending it in for repair. I have a set of Torx screwdrivers, but no soldering iron or heat gun so would not be able to change anything internally.

If anyone knows what has happened or how to fix it please let me know.

From your description, I would suspect that either the metal tabs within the connector have been bent a bit or that the actual solder connections to the motherboard are faulty. In either case, the HDMI port needs to be changed. This will require what is called micro-soldering. I don't know what the labor rate is in your area, but the replacement part should run around $8 or so.

its sounds like the solder between the pins and solder pads have detached, even with just a soldering iron it not a straight forward repair. even so called repair shops with a heat gun and solder iron screw it up. as you can see in the photo iv attached this is what i had to do to repair a ps4 hdmi port after a shop botched it completely
