MacBook Pro Display issue - Is this fixable myself?

Block Image

So unfortunately last night my mid-2015 MacBook Pro Retina Display Laptop fell from precisely 17 inches and hit the tiled bathroom floor on it's right side. It was open at the time.

Hopefully you can see the attached photo, but immediately horizontal lines filled the bottom 25% of the screen and (harder to see) one black vertical line appeared in the far right of the screen (the side that took the impact). Including a semi circle with colored lines in that bottom 25%. Externally I can't see even a scratch on either the display or the casing , but it did have a cover on it.

Some quick tests have identified that a) taking a screenshot does not show the issues and b) it works on an external display without issue. Which leads me to the conclusion that it's a display issue.

So my question - could this be caused by a part that has been partially dislodged, and which me opening up and pushing it back into place may well resolve? Or my gut feeling, is this going to need a whole new display?

And yes, it is well past warranty/applecare etc.

Any advice appreciated. Thx

Yes, it will need to be replaced. The display at the bottom right side of your screen appears to be damaged.

To add to Mayer's comment you'll need to replace the full display assembly. Follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2015 Display Assembly Replacement and here is the needed part: MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Mid 2015) Display Assembly
