Vertical lines in screen after being dropped in water and dried out

So my wife dropped her Iphone 6 in water a few weeks back, I removed the screen and dried out with a heat gun and left apart for a couple of days.

After reassembly the phone was functioning fine apart from vertical lines on the screen which I hadn't got around to doing anymore with it.

Last weekend she dropped it in water again (I know!) I had my tools so I removed the screen and board. I could find little to no corrosion on anything so I submerged the board in isoproypl and used a soft brush to clean everything up, again I checked everything I could see and found no corrosion.

I have put it back together and it is now functioning again but the screen is still the same.

What is the next step, would it be worth trying a new screen?

Yes, try another screen. I always replace the screen on water damaged phones, because the backlights or lcd's get damaged. That's what your issue is from the look of the attached photo.

The new screen fixed the problem, the phone is A1 again as long as it stays out of the toilet.

I have put it in rice for about a week, which did the trick for my 6s. Replacing the screen wasn’t necessary for me, I know this is solved but please to people with the same problem, try this before buying a new screen!

Hi @marieducklings,

You may have been lucky using rice. Time will tell if you were or not. Just don't be surprised if problems with the phone do start to occur soon
