Difference MagSafe DC-In Board

HI guys,

First, Thank you for the very good job you have been doing here.

Here is my issue (question) :

My Macbook 13" late 2008 (A1278) stopped working,, basically it won't turn on or charge the battery.

When you plug and inplug the charger, the battery led on the side of the laptop flash as well as if you plug the charger without the battery.

I've bought a brand new charger (60W Mag safe), tested a new battery (from the exact same mode) and finally replaced the MagSafe DC-In Board, however the original part's reference is 820-2361-02 and I did replace with the part 820-2361-A which looks exactly the same.

I would like to know that make any difference or if you have any suggestion before going for the logic board.

A reset SMC has been done as well.

The 820-2361-A should work just fine if it's good. I would do everything possible before replacing the logic board. First disconnect the hard drive and try. If that gives you a tone, try with your system installation DVD. If it fails disconnect both the hard drive and the optical drive. Next disconnect the battery. Let us know is you get a change in anything.

Hi Mayer,

Thank you for your answer, I was away for few days.

I had the chance to try what you advised but unfortunately it hasn't been successful.

If that can help, when I plug the charger to the laptop, there is a weak light from the mag safe connector.

I assume that my issue must be related to the logic board as I have tried pretty much everything so far.

Any other suggestion is more than welcome.
