No output on display

Hi all,

I have an iMac (mid 2011 21.5) where the screen will no longer come on at all. The HDD had failed, I replaced it and put it back together but now I get no output. I cannot check if an external display would work because I don't think the iMac's display anything till booted on an external display (cant boot the Mac cause the HDD is new with no OS).

The connectors for the screen look to be seated right and I have tried to re-seat them also.

All 4 diagnostic LEDs light up on the Logic board but I still get no output on the screen.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi,

Thanks for this, all connections are sound in place and all look intact.

The Mac boots into Internet Recovery but only when the internal display is unplugged, is this normal? Or could something in the screen be causing the Mac not to boot?

Thanks.

It could be that the backlight on the display died. Try shining a light onto the display when it is turned on and see if you see a startup screen or icons.

Hi,

Thanks all! From what I can see/ can’t see, there is no image at all on the screen.

Try a pram reset . if that brings nothing try connecting an external display and try and enter into network recovery. When trying this you should see something on the external display,
