Is it possible to upgrade the SSD to an NVMe SSD?

I'm looking to replace/ upgrade my MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2012 laptop's SSD for a SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 2280 500GB and would like to know if it is possible.
