Issues with waking up from sleep mode

Hi all,

I'm having a very similar issue with my MacBook Air running on High Sierra but with a Transcend JetDrive 820 that is specifically made to upgrade MacBooks..

Everything runs perfectly after restarting the Mac but after waking it up from sleep things take forever and I get freezes, too.

I have not found any related issues with this drive so I'm assuming it normally works fine.

Could it be the OS upgrade that is causing the trouble? Or am I missing something else?

I appreciate any sort of help!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

How much free space does your SSD have? A drive with little or no free space can encounter issues! Remember to keep 1/4 of a 256/512/1TB drive free 1/3 for the 128/256 GB drives.

by

More than half of the drive space is empty. So that cannot be the problem..

could you try to go to system preferences--Energy saver section and change the "put hard disks to sleep when possible"

I tried it both ways but it doesn't make a difference..

I would contact Transcend to see if they have any firmware updates for their SSD. OWC had issues with High Sierra maybe they do as well.

by

ok good to know. I'll do that.

I am currently in contact with the Transcend support team and noticed that the "JetDrive Toolbox" app does not recognize the SSD. This is despite my laptop runs on it at this moment and the drive is also displayed in the disk utility app. Does anyone have experience with such a problem?

by

Sounds like the SSD has an issue if it won't show the toolbox services. Did they tell you if you needed a app or firmware update?

Mary, Do you still have an Apple drive or did you get it upgraded?

by

Actually, my problem was solved yesterday by Apple technician!

He turned off my FileVault option under System Preferences /Security & Privacy and it solved the problem.

My computer is about 6-months old and I believe this option was turned on during the original set up, but it didn't affect the waking up until this last upgrade.

Hopefully it could help Lucas as well.

@m_aventura - Happy to hear your all set!

Sadly, I think @lmllr has two issues: This could fix his wake from sleep but he also appears to have a second issue with his Transcend SSD as well.

by

FileVault is not active on my computer but thanks @m_aventura . I will actually return the drive now as suggested by the Transcend support team.

Good luck @lmllr
