Hey ShadowJax,

I recently had the same problem on my mom's iPhone 6s. She had already put the phone in rice, which I would not recommend, as that just leaves a heavy coating of minerals on the logic board. What I would do is pull open the phone, remove the logic board, and drop it in some isopropyl alcohol. This will displace the water on the logic board, preventing further corrosion. Make sure to remove the IC shields, as no water will come out underneath them. This can be done by rotating heat around the edge of the shield with a heat gun. Once you hear popping sounds, you can start to pry it up with a pliers. You will not need to remove them all (more info here). One is also a sticker that you can peel off.

Once you have done that, either purchase an ultrasonic cleaner like this, or bring it to a repair shop/friend who has one. Have them drop it in there in isopropyl alcohol for 30-ish minutes. This will not only clean off minerals plastered to the logic board, but it will also clean underneath the ICs.

After it is done cleaning, let it sit for about 5 minutes to dry. You will have to dry off some, but most of it will evaporate off. Then, place it back into the phone and hope all goes well! 9 out of 10 times the display has significant damage or is nonfunctional, so you will most likely need to replace it. From what you have said, it sounds like there is significant damage. I would recommend purchasing one from here and purchase this or this. Replace it with this guide.

If your home button is not working, DO NOT replace it. You will no longer have touch ID functionality. If it is broken, you will either need to get it professionaly repaired, or do this. Remove it with this guide.

Hope this helps,

-Tanner
