Trackpad Replacement not working

I recently replaced the trackpad in a 15" MBP - Early 2011 and it seemed to be working great. However, no its working very intermittently, sometimes it tracks as I would expect other times the pointer doesn't even move.

Any ideas? Is this trackpad defective? If so how do I return it and get a different one???

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Check to see if your battery is swollen. If you can't tell, remove the battery and start up with just the mag-safe adapter and let us know if the issues persists.

I replaced the battery as par of the repair. I completely removed the battery and replaced the trackpad because the brackets had become bent with the last battery swelling so large.

Check to see if the old battery has bent upper case. Did you also replace the trackpad cable?

Top case looks good. Yes, replaced everything. Battery, trackpad, cable, screws, brackets. Its very odd. Sometimes it works great, other times not so much. very intermittent.

If you're certain you installed correctly, assuming the part is from iFixit, yes, you can get a replacement for a defective item. iFixit offers lifetime warranty against defects for non-consumable items. Hope that helped! (If you have questions about iFixit returns, post them on meta.ifixit.com, not here)

Thanks, I threw that last part in just as a, "if no one else has good options then I will need a swap" kind of comment. Thanks for the link though.
