5s Blue Screen of Death Bootloop

Problem description:

The phone is stuck in an apple logo boot loop with Blue screen of death cutting it off.

I can break the boot loop if I leave the battery disconnected for some time, once I plug the battery back in and let it boot up it boots up fine.

Then if I switch off the phone and try to turn it on again it's stuck in the BSOD boot loop.

Then again to get it working I have to disconnect the battery again and do the above.

What I've checked:

- Checked screw holes for long screw damage, no damage visible there

- Tried booting with front camera, rear camera, charging port, antennas unplugged

- Tried booting via DC Bench power supply adapter

What I am going to do:

- Replace tristar charging chip (U2)

Should I try anything else first before doing so?

what about a nand reflow

I don't like reflows, I'll do tristar first.

Chosen Solution

Okay, problem solved, U2 Tristar replacement did the trick!

So for anyone with exact same symptoms on 5s, get tristar replaced to see if that helps.

Hi @benjamen50 ,

Seems like 'going with your gut feeling' is the way to go.

Cheers.
