Why do I have a button randomly appearing that says "update now"?

Sounds strange there is a random update button. Normally Samsung and Google send a notification at the top if updates are needed.
To check
a) Go to settings --> About Phone --> Software Update, or simply in Settings --> Update phone or similar
b) Go to Google Play Store --> My Appls & Games --> Updates
