Do these kind of accidents usually only require LCD to be replaced? No cracks on the actual screen.

Theres screen burns in the top left, so either way you probably need to get it fixed. the weird patterns on it, also probably the LCD.

Most definitely a damaged LCD, it has to be replaced. The top left is not screen burn though, it's cracked LCD and that is the liquid part of LCD leaking into the surrounding area. Because it is no longer in cells (pixels), it cannot be controlled and is therefore opaque.

@captainsnowball @refectio Thanks for the info! I will be opening it up tonight. Would the liquid happen to damage anything else? I have a replacement LCD and adhesive strips. Hoping this is all I need for the fix!

Liquid? you didn't say. yes it will most likely. you need to completely disassemble the device iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi Logic Board Replacement (this guide almost is complete dissassembly) and clean it in alcohol. Electronics Water Damage

@captainsnowball not liquid damage but liquid from the damaged Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)!!!! ;-)

@mattmart89 you'll be fine with replacing the LCD according to the guide. No worries about the liquid, it will not go anywhere else.

@oldturkey03 Thank you for the info! LCD replacement did the trick!

if you are able to take the screen off with out damaging it you can get away with only replacing the lcd
