Replacing LCD only in this model

Hi.

Anyone have experience replacing LCD only in this model?

I have done several A1502 MacBooks, but this looks kinda different.

How is the overall LCD repair, compared to A1502 13" Macbook pro?

Is it much the same, or did Apple make replacing LCD much worse ? :)

Thanks a lot!

I did my first repair on one about a week ago. It was quite easy less work for sure. Don't have a guide so you'll need to wing-it.

Follow the IFIXIT MacBook Pro 13" Function Keys Late 2016 Teardown to Step6 then jump down to Step19 to take the antenna unit off and gain access to the display ribbon cables. Once you've disconnected them pop the hinges.

Hi Dan.

Thanks a lot !

Would you rate this repair "the same" ( or pretty much) as the A1502 13" retina?

As I stated it was easier! But I only swapped out the full display assembly.

I don't try replacing the LCD sub assembly in any of the retina models its just too difficult! I only do the LCD's on the older unibody non-retina series.

Okay. Was referring to a "LCD only" repair for this model. The LCD only repair is a lot more time consuming, and harder. Thanks for reply :)

@ajes - Are you even able to get the panel?

It took some doing to even get the display assembly to fix this one.

Between all of the sheets and the dust issues! You'er a better man than me!

The most difficult thing is the dust, yes. And cleaning up the edges for glass shards. Even the tiniest shard could break the new LCD. I must admit it took me a lot more hours to do this repair. (If I made it sound easy, it wasn't).
