MacBook Pro shuts down during Apple logo when battery is plugged in

So I recently bought a whole bunch of new parts for my computer from amazon (optical drive, hard drive, ram, and battery).

After putting these parts in, everything started to work perfectly for about 5 minutes and then the computer suddenly just shut off.

After that, whenever I booted up the computer, it would just go to the Apple logo and then shut off after that.

It started being very unpredictable with this though. When I take out the battery, it continued to do this with the charging cable plugged in. This made me think there was something up with the logic board so I took the hard drive out and the battery and ran an Apple hardware test, but no error results popped up.

This then made me assume it was the hard drive that was at fault. I used first aid in disk utility and now I can boot into the drive again with the charger plugged in. So I tried plugging the battery in, and the shutting down problem persisted again, though now it would sometimes work and sometimes not.

I unplug the battery again and the computer continues to do this the first four-five times booting up the computer with just the power cable plugged in. About once or twice, I was able to boot into the computer with the battery installed and with charger plugged in and get information from CoconutBattery (I wish I could still get this information but now it won’t boot into an OS at all with the battery installed).

CoconutBattery said the battery was in good condition from what I remember. So, my computer could recognize the battery’s existence, but it couldn’t hold charge and it had to be plugged-in in order to work the computer.

This made me worried thinking that the I/O board was broken or the power switching logic so I ran another Apple hardware test with everything in it (battery, hard drive, ram, optical drive, everything). This is what i received from the hardware test:

Getting the error: 4xxx/4/40000005: Ʃyä “Battery”

It looks like the battery is the issue and that the power switching logic and I/O board are fine. Is this correct?

Did the Amazon seller just send me a defective battery by accident. But, then why would CoconutBattery say that it was in good condition.

As of right now, the computer sometimes boots fine and sometimes does the shut down with only the power cable and has these issues 100% of the time whenever the battery is plugged in.

Sorry for the Forrest Gump story, just wanted to include all of the details.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

You may want to review this answer: Battery Hardware Error Code

While I also buy things on Amazon I've also learned you do need to be careful! Just like eBay you can get cheap knockoffs! This battery appears to have Latin firmware (Ʃyä)!

Interesting. So is it for sure not a problem with the logic board? Should I just go out and buy a new battery somewhere else?

I would start by returning the battery getting your money back. IFIXIT sells batteries at a good price. Sadly, you might have problems getting the battery depending where you're located as it can't be shipped by air anymore.

Then see where that leads you. You may still need your logic board fixed.

Alright. Even though this is a 15 in, I have a 13 in MacBook Pro laying around with a battery still in it. I don’t want to use the 13 in battery permanently in the 15 in, I just want to test it to see if it can read it and boot into it just fine. That way I’ll know for sure if that is the issue. Would this be a good idea?

No! Don't do that!!

The point was the error and what that system had as a problem. The circuits are the same but the values between the batteries are different!

Alright haha. I won’t do that don’t worry haha. I guess I’ll just send the battery back. Thank you!
