@e_ah post some pictures of "the beast" with your question. Let's see what we are dealing with here. What OS did it have etc. ? Anymore specs available?

by

Turn it into a web server!

by

Turn it into Network Attached Storage with XigmaNAS (free). Make it a home entertainment center with MythTV or Kodi. Make it a home server for your music and/or movies with Subsonic. Rejuvenate it by running a lightweight Linux distribution like BunsenLabs, or Ubuntu Mate. If it's really old, make a music player out of it, to play music from your home network server!

I send old Macs to small town schools in Mexico that have no computers at all.

I do donate most of my decent laptops. Desktops is a new story...

• Web Server

• Media Server

• Paper weight

• DVR (put a TV Tuner in it) -- nah, probably not enough processing power unless the GPU takes over

• Classic arcade game/ Classic video game console emulators (think MAME).

• Heater for really cold nights (just remove the heat sink and fan).

• "Car"puter -- somehow jam it into the dash of a car, like where the passenger side airbag should be.

I have #1,3,5 already done. A heater? That would just shut off lol. It would be more effective keeping it on. My pentium d likes to warm my room quite a bit when leaving it running overnight,

@avanteguarde a heater is an... interesting suggestion...

if you have old working computers, give them to family members or donate them. It will make you feel nice! =)

All of my family members near me have decent pc's. Donating them to a thrift store? 99% of the time they end up in a dumpster.

by

you could also sell it on ebay or craigslist and whatnot. maybe donate it to a friend or school or a church?

by

I could but im coming here for some creative uses for em. That is a good suggestion but looking for something diffrent.

You can sell them to gamestop or other places for the parts and then use that money to get new things.

I'm not sure gamestop takes old computers.

by

I would definitely donate the devices, It helps share the love with the rest of the world and you will never regret doing so. It feels great to donate desktops or any other electronics to people in need. In the meantime, I will brainstorm ideas with my team and get back with you on the basis of more ideas.

Good Luck,

Richard Smith
