Freezer is cold, refrigerator not cooling

I have an older model Kitchenaid Superba and the refrigerator has stopped cooling. The baffle door closes and won't reopen. I can open it manually, but when the refrigerator gets cool it closes and doesn't reopen. At first, we were told it was the motherboard so we had it repaired, now we're being told the compressor may be going bad. All the lights wok, the ice maker works, the dispenser works, the freezer is at 0, the compressor runs but the damper baffle does not reopen once it closes, evaporator fan is operating, fan behind fridge is working

Our model number is KRFC300ESS01. Freezer is working. Refrigerator is not.

I doubt it’s the compressor. Do you notice ice around the damper? Or frost any where, including the freezer? Check the back wall of freezer for frost. Without a model number I can’t be positive, but I’m sure that damper operates off the temperature thermostat for fresh food section. It has to be an air flow problem somewhere. If it’s not defrosting properly the evaporator coils could be iced up. If you see frost in freezer in plug the refrigerator and remove the freezer shelves so you ca remove the panel on back wall to expose the evaporator. If there if frost on the evaporator coil take a pic. Notice if the coils are covered evenly with frost or if it’s only ona certain section. That’s all I have without a model number. Good luck.

Replace the baffle door. It's hard to open because colder air condenses and lowers the air pressure. Meanwhile the outside ambient air is higher pressured, Thus when opening the door you have to overcome the differences in air pressure. At least your door seals are in good shape.

Ours ended up being an issue with the mother board. I took the mother board out and sent it to The Repair Shack to be repaired. I found them on Ebay when I was looking for a new mother board. Problem solved!
