Why will the door not stay closed properly
Dryer will run for a short time and then shuts off. Open and reclose
the door and it will run again. Hinges bad, bad latch, not sure where to start?

There could be a problem with the connection in the switch which detects wheter or not the door is closed. Dryers do make vibrations when they run, so the switch could have a poor connection.
