Battery swapped but home button and touchID not working

Got that $29 battery kit, was excited to do the swap. Followed instructions step by step. Got it to power up and then... the home/touchID button doesn't work. I was careful not touch the home button or the surrounding area. Took it apart again and made sure all of the ribbons have connected correctly yet, nada :/. Someone explain to me what could be wrong? Thanks

Only explanation I can think of is the home button extension cable coming from the screen is either damaged or the connector on the logic board for the home button is damaged.

I would look for a tear in any of the cables. Specifically the Home Button to Logic Board cable that is with the LCD/Digitizer connector, and the front facing camera connector.

I also surely hope you've tried the good and faithful hard reset.
