How do I fix the display? When it's cracked.

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro, I have actually built from spare parts. It has worked for years now, but my cat knocked it over, and it fell to the ground. So the screen is cracked, I was wondering if I can get a cheap replacement screen, or should I just use it as a desktop using the Mini-Display port. Is it worth the fix, or should I get a new one? Please let me know! Oh, and in the picture, I am the kid in the camouflage, just saying.

Both the cover glass and the LCD screen can be replaced. Which one did you break?
