Buying logic board 8 GB or 16GB

I want to change out my logic board in my MacBook Pro 15. I have 16 gigs ram currently. Why are there different prices on logic boards with differing ram? Am I not just taking out my existing ram and replacing it inot the new board?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@jimayers the RAM is soldered to the logic board. Whatever memory the board comes with is the memory you will be stuck with. You can't upgrade.Different processor speed+ different memory configuration=different price

Theres a price difference because the more ram space your machine has the faster its runs. You’re purely paying for speed and convenience.
