Yeah, it's doable, technically easier as you do not need to reball the chip when putting the replacement one on.
Make sure it's a 5s, not sure if 5 uses the same u2 ic.

If you are removing a Tristar(U2) IC from one phone to install on another phone, you have to reball it to get a good clean connection of all the balls. Also, the Tristar IC on the 5 will not work on the 5S but pretty much any Tristar from a later model phone will work on the 5S.

the U2 ic also know as the tristar needs to be replaced using microsoldering.
