Why can't it see the battery?

I recently replaced the logic board on this computer, with the old one being non-energy star and the replacement board is. I then purchased an energy star battery connector (eBay) and after reassembling it, the computer works except one thing: it doesn't see the battery. The computer boots up and at first acts like the battery is going to charge (displays 0%), but then, it shows an X and in System Profiler, no battery is shown.

I reset the SMC, but that didn't help.

I also tried a charged battery from another MacBook, and it won't power on without the power cord.

I think the logic board is good (brand new) but the Energy Star battery connector was used. Is the obvious problem component the battery connector, or is there something else that it might be?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Update: If I put in the charged battery, the indicator still shows an X, but I can unplug the power cable and it stays on.

Did you reinstall the system? Even the keyboard is different on the energy star machine

No, the OS didn't get reinstalled. It recognized the old installation immediately, but I guess with the new Energy Star logic board and battery, that makes sense.
