johnnie, if you are talking about an iPod classic 3rd geneartion, the hold switch is part of the logic board and soldered to it. Unless you know how to solder really small parts I suggest to replace the board. Of course it also depends what you problems are. The slider may just have disconnected from the actual switch. Check on that first. The switch has a little notch where the slider fits into.
