Icons of the bottom Dock have disappear after this ISO Sierra update

/Users/yeya/Desktop/Screen Shot 2017-12-07 at 8.28.12 am.png

Hi everyone,

I did the last ISO sierra update yesterday and found out that some icons in the bottom Dock have turned to a generic square looking icon. The icons that I am missing are Apple Store, Messages, Photos, Mail and Notes. At first I was also missing Finder, Siri, Launchpad and System preferences but they reappeared after I re-started the laptop.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

thanks in advance

Can you give us your exact model as that will help us.

I got it moved over for you. But we really need to know which model you have. Take a look here: EveryMac - MacBook Pro's Or, locate your systems S/N in the About this Mac and plug it into here: EveryMac - Lookup.

Try zapping the PRAM. Restart holding down the P,R, Command, Options keys and hold them until the machines tones three times.

@mayer - I'm thinking bad SATA cable or drive.

@danj you could be right. If we knew which machine he had we would have a much better idea.

Hi,

I found a solution in another forum:

- start your Mac in "safe mode", i. e. press the "shift"key while booting

- then log in, check your Dock and Launchpad, if everything looks right, then

- restart your Mac.

After this procedure, my App Icons reappeared.
