iPhone 4S shows red battery and will not charge after changing battery

I changed my iphone 4S battery with an ifixit battery. The repair went fine. I was letting the battery drain until 10% as instructed. When I went to charge the iphone, the battery does not appear to be charging and all I get now is the red battery symbol with the plug that flashes 2 times and then goes black. The only way I get this screen is when I try to do a hard reset and hold it for 10 seconds. I have looked at the port for lint, but none there. Changed to a brand new cord, still the same. Tried plugging into the computer and it is not recognized and still does not come on. I have tried other cubes and plugged into the wall and still nothing. I do not know what else it could be. I could change out the port, but I do not want to just keep throwing money at this phone. Others have said it could be a bad battery. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. God Bless You!

What was wrong with the original battery?

If it was showing a low battery logo with a iPhone 4 charging cable showing up on the bottom of the screen then you have a bad charging port.

The original battery nothing worked just black. With the new ifixit battery in the iphone, it has a charge, about 50% and I used the iphone until it got down to 10% as the instructions said to do. When I plugged the iphone into the cord, I did not get the charging symbol to know that it was charging and the screen was blank. I read forums on the net to see if I could find out a problem. Still now the screen is black. Only when I hold the on and home button for about 10 seconds, then the screen comes up with the red battery, that will blink twice, and the cord that says I need to plug the iphone in to charge the phone. After the red battery blinks twice the screen goes black again.

Having recently tried no less than four replacement batteries all which initially powered the phone but then would not recharge, I solved the "iPhone 4s will not charge"issue by:

1. spraying a small amount of WD40 into the iPhone's charging connector to chemically clean the connections

2. connecting and disconnecting a charge lead a number times to clean the contacts mechanically

As you may already know, WD40 is a water displacement product used for cleaning electrical contacts among other things. It worked perfectly in my case.
