Can I restart install of OSX when half way through?

I started a reinstall of OSX Tiger on my old iMac with the intention of selling it on. I have installed Disc 1 without any problems, but when using install Disc 2 I am told there have been errors installing the software and to try installing again. I've tried cleaning the disc, which is admittedly a bit scratchy (as it was when I got it), but this had not had any effect.

I have a brand new iMac which I was hoping I could use to link to the old one to assist me in reinstalling its OSX, but that's way outside my knowledge sphere even if it's possible.

The only thing I can think of that might work is to buy a copy of the original install discs off ebay & hope the Disc 2 loads.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Many thanks.

Your maximum system on this is 10.5.8. The original installation will put either 10.3.5 to 10.4 according to which of the four A1058 machines you have. Better to buy a retail 10.5 installation disk, install that then update it it to 10.5.8.

Do a search on eBay for "mac & 10.5 retail", there are a plethora of them.
